A year ago, , my life turned inside out overnight.
I woke up on a normal Monday in Tampa, Florida…
and five hours later, our essential bags were packed, our furniture was moved to an upper floor, and we were evacuating in two of our three vehicles.
(The third didn’t even have enough gas to get out.)
Somewhere on that long drive through the night, I heard
God whisper one phrase so clearly it was almost audible:
“You don’t have to go back.”
At the time, I didn’t understand what that meant.
But today, sitting in my office in Bella Vista, Arkansas —
our new home — I do.
🎵 I’m listening to “Burn the Ships” by for
KING & COUNTRY as I write this.
And it reminded me of every “burn the ships” moment in my life:
– Leaving Florida
– Leaving our home church of twenty years
– Leaving the mission field
Every leaving hurt.
A piece of my heart stayed in each place.
But to grow, I had to go.
And
maybe… that’s what you need to hear this week too.
That your leaving isn’t failure — it’s transition.
That what feels like an ending might actually be your beginning.
