Hello, !
Â
I hinted at this last week, but Hiram and I are in a season of change. Â
Â
Here’s the deal about change - it makes my brain FREAK out.
Â
Even though I know change is a necessary part of life - yet my first gut reaction is PANIC.
Even if that change is something that I truly desire.
Â
And this change that Hiram and I are in the middle of is a good change - a great change - a change that is aligned with our future, with our purpose, with our heart.
Â
(Sorry to be so cryptic about what that change is - I will tell you the details soon - stay tuned!)
Â
So, this is one of those times where it is HARD for me to relax - so I decided to make a YouTube video to share with you (and remind myself, lol!) exactly HOW to relax when we have circumstances in our life that make relaxing difficult.
Â
Whether you are a person who has always found it hard to relax, or just happen to be in a busy season of life where there’s always one more thing you can do -Â
Â
I hope this video will help you.
Â
Warning - I recorded it in the cabin where we’re staying, and every time I move my hand, it reflects sunlight like I am Iron Man shooting power beams out of my hand. Oops! (I never claimed to be a videographer!)
Â
But back to the topic at hand (pun intended), here’s one thing I did not say in the video - relaxing IS a gift that God intended for us to enjoy as a part of our creative purpose. Â
Â
I used to feel so guilty about relaxing when there are people dying and going to hell every second of every day while you sit there and do
nothing!  (Yes, my brain yelled at me like a hellfire and brimstone preacher in the middle of a rant)
Â
UNTIL - I discovered this
verse - And also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy the good of all his labour, it is the gift of God. Ecclesiastes 3:13
Â
And this is the verse that helped me find the one very simple solution that helped me relax - a question that I am deflinitely using during our season of change so I remember to RELAX even though there is ALWAYS one more thing to do.
Â
One last thought - many people think that because God is God, everyone should worship Him. Â
I think because God is SO VERY GOOD, He demonstrates His goodness as a motivation for us to seek and serve Him.
Â
And this verse in Ecclesiastes, where the writer informs us that our ability to relax and enjoy the fruits of our labour, to eat and drink and celebrate, that is one of God’s GIFTS to us - reminds me that this is why I live
as I do - as a follower of God -Â
Â
Because He is so very, very good.
Â
And when I RELAX, I reflect my trust in that goodness.
Â
Relaxing is not wasteful, and it’s certainly not sinful - it’s a beautiful testimony that we BELIEVE in God’s goodness.
Â
Okay, that’s what I think.
Â
Hope the video helps you relax more.
