“You shouldn’t ever mention divorce” and other rules Hiram and I break with GLEE…

Here’s my problem with this - it’s a great sentiment based on a LIE.

The lie is “Divorce is not an option”.  

Maybe divorce is an option that some people would NEVER choose…

But it is an option.

Even God recognized it AND used it as a metaphor for His relationship with His people the Israelites after their continued spiritual adultery.

Hiram and I have NO fear around divorce.  In fact, I think our view of it is very healthy.  Divorce IS the most loving option in some cases.  

It is a tragic but true reality that some people are determined to abuse their spouses.

Here me now - 

It is NOT LOVING to allow another person to continually sin against you.  

If that person’s sin is not dealt with here on earth - they will face the wrath of God.  

Marriage is a HOLY bond.  

Don’t let someone else who is NOT in your situation judge you because of your divorced status.  That is between you and God.

AND, if you are reading this and truly do NOT want divorce to be a part of your future (even if it might have been part of your past) - know this - 

The best way to divorce-proof a marriage is by BOTH PEOPLE fully enjoying it!
